Ghanaian author Nana Ekua Brew-Hammond’s Powder Necklace tells the story of a young girl grappling with life, love and a plethora of cultures. The writer – whose work has appeared in TRACE, AOL , Metro, The Village Voice and more – sat down with AfriPOP! at Brooklyn’s Brownstone Books to talk about stepping out as a writer, hustling to finish her book and going to Ghana for the first time.
