Africans in Mexico

A new exhibition at the African-American Museum in Philadelphia reveals the little examined influence of Africans on Mexican culture. Mexico did not acknowledge the existence of Afro-Mexicans until 1992. Enslaved Africans are believed to have arrived in the 16th and 17th century.
