‘Africa Get Money’ reminds me of all the things that made Nigerian parties fun growing up. I want people to watch the video and 1. want to dance with us, and 2. think of all the things that make their culture exciting, too.
Chisom Uzosike is a 23 year old producer, rapper, & art director, born in Detroit and raised in Maryland. He’s the eldest son of Nigerian expats. Gifted with a smooth flow and deep, resonant voice, Chisom combines slick wordplay with real-life themes and vibrant production. He began producing music at 16, inspired by the likes of DJ Premier, The Neptunes and Kanye West. Drawing from his love of music from all genres, a keen ear for samples, and his Nigerian roots, he quickly developed an eclectic, unique style.
Directed by Cy Abdelnour, the video is a form of unadulterated black joy that speaks to the children of African expats when they achieve their version of the ‘American Dream’. The song is from Chisom’s debut EP The Jordan Year.
The multi-talented 23 year old has also produced tracks for the creative hip hop collective known as The Black Opera.
