Akon spent the best part of the last two years on a belligerent philanthropical campaign promoting his Akon Lighting Africa initiative (about which there are questions). Which leads me to believe that this song’s title is somehow punning on that whole drive as it was released last year exclusively to Trace and only made available publicly as of today. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him use pidgin in his songs before. I’m going to go ahead and assume it’s at least partly due to the influence of Jovi. The Cameroonian beast of an MC and producer wrote and produced the beat, which is undoubtedly the best thing about the song.
