Hopefully you’re familiar with one of our most popular set of posts, The ’10 Nigerians….’ series. If you are, then you’ll know this isn’t the first time we’ve sung the praises of journalist and writer Bim Adewunmi. We listed her as one of 10 Nigerian wordsmiths you should know.
The other day I had a browse through her blog Yoruba Girl Dancing and in particular, a post called The Body Beautiful reminded me why it’s so special. It reads like a coming of age story filled with touching and relatable anecdotes (my parents also weren’t consistent about taking and keeping photographs of us as we grew up) and presents such a healthy body image. So heart-warming and poignant in a time when so many women wear their dysmorphia weirdly like a badge of honour.
The ‘Friday Pretty’ editions are a riot too.
