Congratulations are in order for Miss Angola Leila Lopes who was crowned Miss Universe in Sao Paulo last night.
Here are 5 things to know about her.
- She is 25 and is currently pursuing a degree in Business Management in the UK
2. She’s the second African woman to win the title, the first being Mpule Kwelagobe of Botswana.
3. Asked what physical trait she would change, she said, ”Thank God I’m very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn’t change a thing…I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these for the rest of my life.”
4. Her causes (every beauty pageant winner has one) are fighting against HIV, protecting the elderly and championing the rights of “poor kids” in her native Angola.
Like us, she thinks racism sucks. “Any racist needs to seek help,” she said. “It’s not normal in the 21st century to think in that way.”
