Everyone’s buzzing about rapper Tyler the Creator since his big win at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. We just find out he’s half-Nigerian. Here are a few more things to know about him:
1. He was born Tyler Okonma, reportedly to a Nigerian father and African-American mother.
2. He’s a man of many names, including Wolf Haley, Ace, the Creator, Tyler, the Masturbator, Thurnis Haley, Dr. TC, Tron Cat.
3. He’s a multi-talented rapper, producer, and leader of the alternative hip hop collective OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All), aka, Odd Future. He actually directed the controversial video, ‘Yonkers,’ on which he eats a cockroach and vomits. The video has over 20 million views on You Tube. Clearly, this kid’s no joke.
4. He just won Best New Artist award at the 2011 MTV Music Video Awards.
