The Root named Kenyan Wanuri Kahiu as one of 7 Black Directors You Should Know. We call her one of our patron saints. A true visionary in every sense of the word, any time the opportunity to see one of her films comes up we strongly encourage you take it up. They change lives - Pumzi is one of the finest short films to come out of Africa in recent years. On July 19 Kahiu will be in London to screen it at the British Library and to talk about all things Sci Fi and Afrofuturistic from her perspective. After the Q & A she will be joined by a few guests including Charles Thompson, associate producer of fantasy feature Mirror Boy and CEO of the Screen Nation Film and TV awards.
