It’s a celebration! We’re rolling out the red carpet as Tyler Perry’s much talked about film For Colored Girls finally comes to theatres in South Africa. Janet Jackson, Thandie Newton, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose, Loretta Devine, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, and Micheal Ealy are the stars of this screen adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s 1975 Obie Award-winning play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf. It weaves together the stories of nine different women as they move into and out of one another’s existences. Crises, heartbreaks and crimes will ultimately bring these nine women fully into the same orbit where they will find commonality and understanding.
Our very own Zaki Ibrahim makes a superb appearance on the motion picture soundtrack and will perform a mini set including her song for the film Ansomnia.
