NYC MC Nas and Jamaican reggae star Damian Marley have teamed up to record the anticipated album, Distant Relatives. Taking the intellectual route to promoting new music, the artists are heading up a panel discussing the roots of hip hop and reggae and their mutual origins in African music on December 12th. Other panelists include hip hop and reggae pioneers DJ Kool Herc, DJ Red Alert, Daddy U-Roy and King Jammy. The panel will be moderated by MTV VJ Sway Calloway and it will be streamed live on natgeomusic.net
