This should be good. Africa is getting it’s own version of Tyra Bank’s hit show, America’s Next Top Model. Hosted by supermodel Oluchi Onweagba (pictured), the show will be scouting beautiful girls from Liberia, Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, Senegal and Liberia, among others. Though it is meant for the whole continent, the first installment of the show will take place in West Africa. The winner will score a “lucrative international modeling contract, a cover of True Love magazine and numerous endorsement deals from various companies in the fashion industry nationally and internationally.” says the press release.

I’m excited by the gesture, but am also hoping the girl are not disappointed the way the American contestants are. I mean, have you heard from any ANTM winners since they won the competition? But can you imagine the drama that will be in the show? I can’t wait to see it. And congrats to all the girls who get on.

The show will begin airing next Spring on “African networks and cable TV.” Stay tuned…

Interesting. I know we're once again 'borrowing' another continent's concept but it is still an opportunity to bring to light the talent that would otherwise be buried and remain undiscovered on our continent. Big up!

This should be interesting. Will the show reflect the African taste for more "full-figured" women? Somehow I think not.
